(Jrasa sued and m.uiuros ai*o also in brisk demand. At the horsu sale on Friday, horse stock wore yarded in full number, and n.oro sold than usua!. For strong horses there was an improved demand, Prices ranged from t!l3 t • t'l7 each, but inferior stock were at low values. The hide and skin sale, on Tuesday, wan fully attended, and satisfactory prices obtained. Heavy ox ranged from -Id to o'.d ; good medium, l}d to frfd : cow hides, lid to 2.Jd ; calf skins, Id the lb. Fat and tallow, from lis to 17s the cwt. Pelts, from 1m Id to 2a lid: lambs'skins, Is 7d tr> 2s ild each ; wool, li.Jd the lb. At the country cattlo sales, held respectively at Pokenoand Drury cattle were yarded in fully avorage number. Dairy cows were in brisk enquiry, and better worth, but store cattlo generally were lo.ver in price. At Remuora on Thursday dairy cows near cliving were in less number than usual, Prices were fully sustained. All useful cows ranged from £4 to £(> 10s each. Store cattle plentiful; about 300 sold. The steers advertised obtained an average of £3 10s ; cows, from 30s to 42s ; calves, mostly steers, 17s aash. Fat calves, in usual supply, were without alteratien in value. Fat cattle yarded in full number ; 313 sold and 20 steers withdrawn, fairly kept last week's values. Steers of good quality were throughout at 10s, interiorly fatted from lis; cows, 12a to 13s the 1001b. Fat sheep in uvorago supply; 1300 yarded ; prices irregular, and in some instances lower from fid to Is each. Longwooled wethers ranged fiorn 13a to 17s ; ewes, 8s to 13s; lambs, 8s (id to lls each. Pigs abundant. Well-bred pig* in requo.it at full values. Porkers ranged from 18s to 2Ns, heavy pigs up to 4lis, but coarse pigs of same sue were from 2s to Ss each. We quote : Oats, Is Od to 2s 2d per bushel; oaten chaff, £2 Ins per ton ; bran, £3 10s per ton; rye grass, :js fid to (is (Id. Horses : The demand has continued brisk, particularly for those of a good stamp, at tho previous week's valuos. A good many were for disposal by auctiou at tlio Durham "V ui'ds on Friday. Bidding was brisk, and alinos; without exception those submitted changed hands. We quote : Hacks, from £t 10s to £12 lr.a; light harness horses, £5 13s (id to £13 lO.s ; medium draught, £7 12s (id to £14 10s. Wool, hides, skins, &c: The demand was steady, but there was no upward tendency in value and some lots sold at prices in favour of the purchaser. We quote: Medium to stout ox. 3Jd to IVI per lb; row and steer, l;,'d to 2)d; calfskins, 3d to 4:,' d; tallow, Ills toTSs lid per cwt; sheepskins Is Id to 3s 4d eich ; wool, 5 ; /d to (i.fd per lb ; lambs' wool, 6jd to 7d. Cattle: An increased number was brought forward and found purchasers. Stores higher in price ; other descriptions unaltered. There was a good muster of dairy and store cattle at the Ncwmarkot Yards on Tuesday, and competition for both classes was brisk, for store steers particularly, the principal purchaser being Mr .Tames Given, of tho I'olluk Settlement, at from £3 "s lid to IM 17s. Less than the average number of fat beasts were yarded, which were steadily competed for at quite the previous week's values. Soma averages for steers were: £7 7s (id, Eli 15s, £(! 12s {Id, £(> Is 3d, £li 2s (id. Cows: £1 7s (id. £1 ss, £3 12s lid, £3. Sheep: There was barely an average number of sheep penned at Newmarket on Tuosday, but there was no porceptible advance in value. Wethers sold at 12s to His 3d; ewes, 10s Od to 13s 3d; mixed sexes, lis to 13s Od ; lambs, Ss 3d to 12s. Pigs : Very few yarded, and sold from 15s to 27s (id each ; well-bred sucker?, 8a each.

In the dairy produce market we have to report an advance of lid per lb in the price of fresh butter, viz., first-class butter, >Sd second, (id. Kresh eggs are very scarce and the wholesale price is Is lid per do/.en, retail, Is Dairy made chtit'wi fetches ."'.d, factoiy cheese l.jd. Bacon and hams (Canterbury), equal numbers are quoted at 7d. lirisk trade is doing in the flour market, and since the rine in the, mice of broad, bakers are buying more freely from the local millers at the advanced rates. A largo quantity of wheat Ims been sold this week, and importations from the South are large. Kail business in the grass and seed market has been done this we.'k. ( rood samples of malting barley are in demand, maize is worth l!s (H olf wharf in p'ircels. The Sydney market for maize is over for the ,season. Kowl wheat is in demand, and bran and sharps are selling freely. Good sound potatoes are quoted from t'3 to t'3 10s.
