Valparaiso, April 15. Pkksiijkxt Balm ackda, having been deserted by many of his troops, was signally defeated by the insurgents. Tho losses on the President's side were very heavy.

The insurgents are now marching on Santiago and Valparaiso. The Alno, bound from Newcastle to this port, was run ashore by order of the Chilian Government, to avoid capture by the insurgents. The owners claim compensation.
