PROHIBITION VICTORY.
Tiik Sydenham licensing eloction, Christchurch resulted in a decisive victory for the prohibitionists on Friday, who put in all their nominees for the committee by a large maiority. As they have announced their intention of closing all the publichousea in Sydenham there was great excitement. Both parties worked desperately. The candidates returned were : — Rev. L. M. Isitt OU'.I ; 0. (1. Smith, t>37; W. J. Hudd, (i.'i.l : .J. Hooper, o.'i- , ; Beattie, (Jij. The highest of the Moderate party's candidates was W. White, sen., l:T>'. Jl-i'J electors voted out of 15l)0oii the roll.
