MORRINSVILLE.

School Committee Meeting—The above body met in the school-house on Monday, at 7.H0 p.m. Present—Messrs J. Horrell (chairman), M. Harrison. J. Turnbull, F. J. Marshall, and W. Pickett. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The balance-sheet for the previous fifteen months was submitted by Mr Y. Horrell (who kindly acted as clerk), and was approved. It was as follows:—Receipts : Balance in hand in January, ISSi), £1 ISs 4d ; grants, £7 10s ; hire of school, £5 14s ; total, £15 2s 4d. Expenditure: Cleaning school, £7 17s ; fuel, 4s ; repairs to school fence, &c, £1 2s Id ; books, &c, 19s 3d ; balance in hand, £H ; total, £15 2s 4d. The small amount chargeable for fuel is accounted for by the fact that various members of the committee had kiudly forwarded loads of wood for use in tho school as required, and we are pleased to state they expressed their intention to continue the good work and save the ratepayers' pockets. No action was taken, re the vacant seat on the Education Board. Circulars were received from Messrs E. W. Barton and W. R. Buckhurst, hut the committee did not think the matter worth troubling about. The prevailing opiuiou appeared to be that many of those seeking office at the late election, and in the present instance, wished to make "stepping stones" of the country committees. The whole of those present were nominated for eleotion on the school committee for the ensuing term. Mr T. J. Grauqe was also nominated, and ODe more is yet required.
