CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL SPORTS.
'I'itK annual sports in connection with tlio Cambridge Public School were held in the Government paddock on Thursday. Tliero was a good attendance of tliu parents nntl friends of the children ; the Chairman of the Committee also was present, but most of the other members were conspicuous by their absence. The head master (Mr H C. Dyer) had a busy day ; however, he was ably seconded by the assistant master (Mr Munroe) and the staff of lady teiehors. Jlr J, MeNeish was starter and Messrs Kirkwooil and McVeigh judges, aud they all gave the utmost satisfaction. The handicaps were arranged by Mr Alex. McKinnon, the well-known runner; but he evidently did not know the capabilities of Tom Dillon, who proved a veritable "dark horse." for he won tlie Cup and several other event? with apparent ease. '('lie meeting was a givat success, except that it was somewhat Imrrieil. more than one event taking place at the same time. Parents like to see tlw whoie performance, which on this occasion they could not do, unless they were capable of looking at two places at once.
