HUNTLY.
A max natiiPd Alfred Neill was arrested by Cous f ab!e White at Ohinewai on Wednesday last for being illegally on the promises of Mr Robert Muii, who could not get the ruffian to leavo. He used the most obscene and threatening language to Mrs Steel, housekeeper for Mr Muir, and frightened tho children out of thuir wits almost. He was taken by th>s constable to Ngaruawahia yesterday and charged with the otfence before Mr E. Fitzuatrick, J.P., and fined £2 and £1 costs, which were paid. Tho littlo girl of Mr McFarlane's who fell out of the trap on Wednesday and was run over is progressing towards recovery, although seriously hurt. Dr. Broom is attending her and is sanguine of her recovery. There is to bo auothar concert and dance hero on Monday next, for the purpose of still further adding to the fund being raised to build a church. A little good music and singing is almost a necessity here in order to while away the evenings which are rather dull. A reading room would bs an acquisition to Huntly and it is to bo hoped we shall soon have one.
