The Waikato Timm OJHce, Wednesday. MARKCT RKPORTS. TKK New Zealand Loan anil Mercantile Agency Company Limited report under data:— DONKDIN, February 2b. — brain.— Wheal: Some sales m Northern when are now bcinu effected at ub nit equal tn late quntitioiis ; but there is no Southern ax y.it on tho market, and, should the weather conlinuu ho broken, it will bo some weeks before them is any to hand. Tho mnrU.'.t being bare for some time of good milling, there is no dtl'riciilty in placing any offering, and, considering tho fact th.it thn market at Homo is slowly but surely tending upwards, tho position in tho meantime seems to ba in favour of producers, and likely to continue bo for the next three or four months at any rate. We quote prime nulling velvet and Tuscan, 3s lOd to 4s ; bust red wheat, Ss 8d to 3s 0.1; medium, 3s M tu 3s 7d (ex store). The markup is almost clear of inferior and good fowls' wheat.— Oats: These have had a very fair demand during the past week both for shipment and local consumption, but now buyers are mora careless about purchasing, anil only extra prime samples fetch up to last week s top price. All tho old stocks are about cleared out, and farmers: busy securing the new crop, deliveries arc therefore at the momont on a limited scale. In consequence sales are affected at prices nearly approaching late rates, but it is ovident that any considerable, quantity put on the market unreservedly would have a prompt effect on present quotations, which we givo as follows—viz. : * :<r bright feed and milling, Is old to Is Cd ; medium to Rood, Is 4-Sd tn Is .Id; interior to medium, Is 3d to Is 4d (ex store, sacks extra). Potatoes:—The market continues to bo fairly well supplied. Sains of prime lots are readily etfectod at Inst woek s rates, while inferior sorts aro difficult to place. We quote- for host, £3 5s to £3 10s : inferior to medium, 42s 6d to sos per ton. Dairy Produce-—A slightly better demand for local consumption is experienced for gmid salt butter, but none for export. Tho demand for cheese shows no improvement. We quote best salt butter. (Jd to7d ;cheese, 3d to 4Jd per lb. Flax:—The market continues steady at late quotations, which are for best bright, long in the fibre and soft, £1!) to £20 7s t!d; medium to good, £lo to £18; coarse and badly scutched, £10 to £14 10s per ton.
