TE AWAMUTU.
HORTICULTURAL SHOW AT HAMILTON.— The Waikato Times of Tuesday was eagerly perused for the list of additional special prizes. It is to be regretted that the special prizes are not more numerous, Entries close on Thursday, and consequently no additional list will be now available. From a notice at the Post-office we learn that the oxcursion train will loavo To Awamntn for the show at S.'.)~> a.m., returning from Hamilton West at li p.m. S. John's Church.— A large congregation assembled at St. John's Church on Sunday hist, the Hth inst., when service was conducted by the Rev. Dr Hooper, D.l). The sermon was most impressive, and was very attentively listened to by all present. The text, which was from St. Matthew, was "Wheresoever two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I m the midst of them." The Weatheh.—For the last four days the weather here has been unusually hot, and Commander Edwin's promised gale has not. yet come to pass. Waikato Cavalry.—Sergeant Carley proceeds to Waiuku to-morrow morning to act as judge at the cavalry sports to be held there on Thursday. Musical Society.—Our local Musical Society are practicing Gilbert and Sullivan's " Trial by Jury," and intend to perform it in character within the next two months. The music is very pretty and tuuoful, and the dialogue is as witty a.s Gilbert can make it. The choruses already go with a swing, and the principals are rapidly getting perfect in their parts, no that a fine performance may be expected. Waii'a Jockey Ci.un.—Owing to the large number expected, the meeting to sot the old Waipa Jockey Club on it< legs again will be held at Lewis' Hotel, and not us stated in Tuesday's issue.
