Makttana. —In the report of tho lato performance here of the Opera of Maritally, by our l(Sq»l Club! the services rendered by the stnge innti:it'er, Mr W. M. Chiippell, inadvertently, were notrecognised. The whole of the scenery, etc., was under Ins management, und inline of tho scenes reflected great credit on his skill as scenic artist, all of them preatly adding to the 'attractiveness of the perform'inct!. Although the Company were greeted by a good house, it is to bo regretted that they wore at a financial Ins.--, the low charge made to the public not covering the expenses, which were unusually heavy.

Tub Nativh Crops.—The unseasonable weather wo had at tbe late harvest, has proved vory disastrous to the natives crops around the Ivopua district, a largo Quantity both of their wheat and oats having been entirely destroyed by the growth made after being cut, so that it was useless to thresh it out. Those who havo safely seoured theirs, have already disposed of a good deal of it, and will wind up their harvesting by a race meeting at Whatiwhatihoe on Sunday next. Kstkktaixiikxt.—The magic lantern entertainment and lecture by the Kev. Mr Hazeldeu, on Saturday evening last, was, owing to the unpropitious state of tho weather, but poorly attended, to the £reat regret of a large number of our children, who were una bio to attend, it is to be hupod tho rov. gentleman will on some future occasion give them another opportunity of attending, and that the weather will be favourable.
