A scheme is being drafted fur an Australasian federation of labour, which will bo submitted to another conference at Dallarat in April. The scheme, provides that each union shiill retain self-govern-ment of its own particular iiflairs, and federate in order to facilitate mutual eo-openition where necessary for common welfare. Mr Eddy. Chief Commissioner of Railways, and lion. R. White;, M.L.C., have left on a visit to New Zealand. MIiLJiCH UNK, February 10. There is considerable dissatisfaction among the federated unions respecting the new shipping articles, and trouble is likely to arise. Nine of thu cro\v ol the Ution, from Glasgow, have been landed, suffering from lead poisoning. Metal is supposed to have been contained in the sugar supplied to the ship. One man lias since died.
