Wood, of Christchui'ch. appropriated the one mile flat champion-hio and the halfmile Hat championship. 1 n the latter he ran the distance iu 2 miu. .vhieh is tha amateur record tor /enland.

The 000 yds, Handicap fell to Roberts, who beat a large field, and Ledsham (I 'liri.stchurch 1 won tiio two mile F.icyde Handicap.
A. Kurton, who won the Three Mile Championship, is an old W aikato boy, his parent: liaviru,' re.-ided on the Waipa for some years, and he at present ha.- charge of the Public School at flarapepe. After compound successfully in the Auckland College and Grammar School Sports Burton joined the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club, and in the various walking events for some time he proved very oiicce.s-,ful. lieiiiK moved, however, into the country 110 up competing for some time, and his reentry now into thn arena lias proved that he is stili able to hold his own. Mr Burton went in for other branches of athletics, and was for some time a prominent member of the Cordon Football Clnh and last year lie played for the Tatcrantfi Cob.
