ACCIDENT AT TE AKAU FLAX MILL.

♦ On Tuesday afternoon word reached the Secretary of the Waikato Hospital that a patient was on his way from Raglan suffering from an accident. Later on a message came in that the party had passed Waitetuna and might be expected in Hamilton between ten and eleven o'clock. On enquiry yesterday morning we were afforded the following particulars :—The sufferer's name is Hamilton, a half-caste, who has been working at Mr Halls flax-mill, and whilst adjusting some portion of the machinery connected with the skutcher, his right arm was caught in a cog wheel, and was terribly lacerated, both above and below the elbow joint, to such an extent that amputation was decided on. The operation was satisfactorily performed and at latest account the patient was doing well.
