Captain Kdwin forecasts heavy Rales trom northward, changing by west, anil southward betwuen midnight to-night and the 3rd of Pebrnai v. Mr H. W. r. tiger, chosen to represent Wellington, in the hurdle races at the Amateur Athletic Championship Meeting in Auckland, wm a passenger by the early train to Tarailaki to day, en route for the Northern city. It is doubtful whether Malcolm will get away to take part in uutting the weight. The Canterbuiy rep-f—Messrs' I\ Wood, . Moir. Cocks and J. l.ricrsim—have also gone up ill the Takapuna. ______
