TilK Council met at-.30 p.m. Replying to Hon. H. Stevens, rum r. Buckley said tho Government could not pive a definite answer as to whether it was the intention to continue or deteruiiuo the banking contract of the colony, but lie mutter would bo considered during the recess. Hon. IX Pollen said that as the prnro'V.tii'ii was close at hand, he would move"that this Council desires to express its high appreciation and esteem tor the very atle manner m which tSii W . litxherbert had so lone discharged his duties, and expresses its sympathy and regret for fchn circumstances whi;h caused his raS ' B Hnu. 'k. Stevens seconded liie motion, and spoke in highly eulogistic terms of the lato speaker. .. The motion was carried, and the Council rose at 2.00 p.m.
