He is nut anxious to take the position, but will stand as a, Candida to if requested by the Cabinet. With respect to the Speakership of tho Upper House nothing lias been done yet, but a rumour has been gaining ground during the last, day or two, that tho Premier will be Sir \V. Fitzherbert's successor.
The Ministers so far adhere to their intention to make the Legislative Council sip. pointments and ninv n im»s nr.> mentioned.
