« Th« Waikato Times OtHee, Wednesday. MARKET REPORTS. Tub New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report under dado :— iViKLiiOUHNE, December 3,—Wool.—At our last sale we submitted 4,390 bales to a crowded attendance of the trade. Competition ivua brink at late rates, and 3131 bales wore sold, greasy realising up to 13Jd., and s.cui'od ItiVl. Since the opening of the sales competition has increased, and the market is firmer for superior greasy and Hcoured merino. Other descriptions are unchanged. The past week has been marked by very changeable weather, but, though somewhat unseasonable, not much injury has been sustained by the growing crops. The harvest has, however, been farther retardorl. Accounts still come to hind of the destruction by locusts and caterpillars, but it must not "be overlooked that, as a rule, the ravages of these pests an confined to limited localities. As a whole the wheat crop, though late, will, it is expected, bo good, whilst the same remark applies to both barley and oats. The hay crop is also good, and the returns from the Bellarine distiiet will give a heavy weight to tho acre. The local markets, as usual at tbis season of the year, are quiet, the trade naturally being unwilling to increase stocks in face of a coming harvest. Latest cable messages from London report a firmer market, and there appears to be an expectation that tho coming year will opon with improved prices.
