MISS CAREY'S SCHOOL.
The time-hououred party and distribution of prizes took placo on .iM'iduy evenin? last in Miss Carey's school-ruori,, Victoria-street, Hamilton. A muiiber of the friends and parents of the pupils attended, and before the evening was over they vvcro both s-urprised and well pleaaed to see many of their little ones taking part m the proceeding. One ond of the room was arranged as a and a plentiful supply of decorations and evergreens made tie ordinary bare walls look quite gay. The following prizos wore awmded: Music, Carrie Hill Ist prize, Louie St')kes2nd pnze ; amiability, Jjev/id Oldham; arithmetic, Josopb Mnnro ; roadine, Maude Hettley ; general work, Lottie 15--ttlev : pjood attendance, Magpie Munro; writing, J. l red. Munro J fjood behaviour, Harry Hooper; sewiinr, Jeamiie lvirk. After tho distribution of the prizes whioli consisted of articles and toys, useful and suited to tho apes of the recipients, the following programme was carried out:— Pi-oifriimine : Pianoforte duet, '* Canary Birds," Mi-s Care> and Keuny ; holo, vocal, "Sweet Chiminpr Bells," Miss L. St'ikes : holoj piano, " Waltz, Miss J. Butler; round, 11 Throe Bliud Mice," (in characters) Mrs Von Stunner, Missen Stnvtho and Oirev ; duet (piano), Eichuer Dance, Missed Ilill; May polo Dance, children ; solo (vocal) "Cheer up Saul," (in character) Mr C.Cox ; -inln, (piano) " March," Miss May Carey ; Unet (vocal), "Listto tho Convent Bells," Mrs Von Stunner and Miss Carey; recitation; "Mr Nobody," Miss Macgie Munro, round, " A Boat, .V Boat, Airs Von Sturnier and Misses Sniythe and Caiey : duet (piano) "Chips Chops," Misses Charlotte and May Carey; solo (vocal), "When the Leaves Bopin to Fall," Miss Smythe; solo (piano) "Silvery Waves,' Miss Kenny.
