December 19. Over 70 members of Parliament are at jwownl in Kilkenny, a waiting tlio rieotiou. Mr Jusiin McCarthy ou his arrival received an ovation from both men and women. Some exciting relies have taken place in Kilkenny Municipal Council. The minority retired in dudgeon, and the majority then passed a vote of confidence in Mr Parnell. The Clan-na-Gael supports him. Mr Pat-nell's eyesight is in danger. The inflammation has extended _ to both eyes, but he persists in speaking at the surrounding villages, despite the warnings of the doctors. It is alleged by his opponents that the amount of injury is purposely exaggerated. December 20. The Roman Catholic priests are making a house-to-house canvass against Parnell's candidature for Kilkenny North. Collisions take place daily between the opposition parties, and troops are arriving to maintain order. Mr T. Sexton declares that his party will hereafter demand assurances from 1 Mr Gladstone beyond the points obtained by Mr Purncll with regard to Home Rule. s The Tipperary tenants are now pay- > ing their rents, and tlio'plan of cam--1 paign shows signs of collapsing in that 3 comity. ' The Queen's Proctor is inquiring into the O'Shea divorce case. December 21. A number of Kilkenny ladies personally presented Parnell with a bouquet of white lillies. Adelaide. December 20. At a meeting of local branch of the Irish League, it was suggested that an intercolonial conference should t be convened to consider the present state of Irish affa-'rs.
