Tho discipline of tho school had greatly improved since his last visit, there beintr a marked improvement in tbe bjhavior of the scholars, though in the lower standards there was still room for improvement in this respect. —The Chairman said fri.-.n a eoiiveioation he had had with tho Inspector he was well satisfied with the proßrtsi made by the scholars; and indeed ho (Mr Airey) intimated that if the school continued to improve at the rata it had done during the past .six months, it would soon bo one nf tho best country schools-.—Mr Wells thought the committee had just, reason to be satislied with their schoolmaster, Ho was not only a learned man, but was able to impart his knowledge to tho children, it was unanimously resolved that the chairman convey tho appreciation of the committee to the nmsti r on tho efficiency of tho school, as manifested by the Inspector's report. Sfiioolmastkr's Kksidksck.—The Chairman reported that a tender for painting the house had been accepted. The share to bo paid by the committed is £S 18s and extends over a period of two years. l'luxi'iox or Cwdii'itkeo.—Tho chairman road tho new School Committee Election Act, for the edification of thoso present, it is one of ihoso "fearfully and wonderfully made" productions that emanate from our Ifonsenf Kepieseutatives, and, as M> Well* -luted, elearjy showed that it had been drawn up by men who had not had any experience in country elections. It does away with cumulative voting, but substitutes a method ten times worse, and one that we do not think will be properly carried out in .me district in a hundred. Messrs Sargent, Webber, Dickenson and the chairman were ap. pointed a committee to make tho neecssary arrangements. Watbk.—ft was resolved to have the water tanks and the spouting round the ' school cleaned out as soon as the holidays commenced. ! Tkkes.— The action nt tho visiting committee in authorising Mr llrennan to cut ' down a row of tree.-, on the school grounds, was confirmed. This was all the business of importance.
