A REPLY WANTED

TO THK KDITOU. Stii,—l am preatly astonished to find that lip to the present date, the only reply to my qrery re thu subscription to defray tho costs incurred by a young man in the Cambridge K.M. Court, has been from Mr R. Li. Fitzpatrick, who tells as much as ho knows (for which I am much obliirad) but he evidently does not know much about it as he had not heard of there beiiiEf subscribers other than the frionds of tho defendant. 1 know of several, one of them a total stranger to either plaintiff »r defendant in the action, and the general impression is that there arc many who gave their mite. Surely I am not asking too much of those who had the matter in hand, by rocjncsting them to clear tho business up, and lot the subscribers know what amount was collected and how it was expended. You havo kindly undertaken to publish tho information when furnished, and that will satisfy everyone concerned. I may perhaps be taxed with raking np an old affair that should have been let alone, and f would willunjly have ioue so, but for the fact that I know this matter net having been settled litis damaged the Athletic Spo-ts subscription list. Mrs Grundy can generally find something: or someone to talk about in Cambridge ; I am afraid she frequently telN lies, but that: renders it imperative that the truth should be known. 1 canuot think tiie promoters ot this --nb- j scription are aware of the manner iu which ! Mrs G. has been talking about them, ot j the)* woid'l forward you the in)orm;ui.»n asked for with as little delay tit- possible.— I am. etc.. A Sntsc.uK!-:;:.
