ACCIDENTS.

As regards accidents, Thursday was a very unlucky day in Hamilton. In the morning as Mr W. Chitty, of Kirikiriroa, was bringing in a uiob of horses to Messrs McNicol and Co.'n special sale one of them was kicked by another and had its leg broken, necessitating its being killed. During the afternoon two accidents happened to two of Mr J. McNicol's mon, Vincent Papesch, who had his leg broken, and Sam Mason, who received a cut over the eye. Papesch was riding one of the horses at the sale, when the animal reared up and falling backwards crushed Papesch's leg under its wither and broke it in the nppor part of the thif,h. The young man was at once put into a spring cart, and by a number of willing hands taken up to the Waikato Hospital whero his injuries were promptly attended to by Dr. Kenny, and yesterday he was progressing very favourably. Mason was also riding at the sale, when the horse fell with him. He at once caught the animal's head, but as it got up it either struck him with the bit or its teeth inflicting a nasty wound close to the left eye. Mr Sandes bound the cut up temporarily, and it was afterwards attended to by Dr. Kenny, who does not expect that any serious results will follow the accident. In one of the pens of tho saleyard a bull who had proved rather troublesome was ropod up, and as he was then thought to be quite safe a young (illy was put into the same pen. Somehow tho filly went too close to the bull who ripped it deeply in tho side letting its entrails out, and the unfortunate animal had to be destroyed. As Mr A. I!. Suttor, of Eureka, wsib driving home with u pair of horses, and having with him in the trap Mrs Suttor and two children, one of the bolts connecting the polo to tho buggy came out. Tins caused the buggy to turn rouud, and tho horses taking fright commenced to rear and kick and overturned the buggy, the occupants being thrown out in various directions, but luckily none of them were hurt. The horses broke away from the trap and wont for home. They were considerably knocked about as was also tho buggy and harness. The accident happened tho Hamilton side of Hinton's gully, * and Mr and Mrs Suttor and the children walked on as far as Mr Hinton's place and hokindly drove thorn on homo, where they arrivod without any further mishap. j
