WAIKATO ELECTORATE.

MR CASTLETON AT OII.AUJPO

Thk hall at Delanuy's was fairly well filled oil Tuesday afternoon to liear Mr Castleton's address. Mr Custleton spoke for fully an hour touching upon the subjects of Railway Reform, Education, etc. At the conclusion of hii address, Mr John I'isher moved a vote of thanks and no confidence. This was seconded by Mr Lake, and carried unanimously. An intimation appears in this issue in reference to Mr Castleton's candidature, intimating the fact that owing to a severe cold Mr Castleton has been compelled to retire from the contest.

MR BRYCE AT RANGIRIRI. The school house at Rangiriri was closely packed on Monday night, to hear Mr Bryce's address. Mr John Brookes, of Churchill, was in the chair. Mr Bryee spoke upon the several subjects engrossing public attention at the present time, sketching briefly tho subjects that he has more fully dealt with at previous meetings, at the conclusion of his speech the usual vote «f thanks and confidence was accorded him. - MR BRYCE AT HUNTLY. It is estimated that fully two hundred people assembled in Mr Ralph s line new hall at Huntly on Tuesday to hoar Mr Bryce. It was stated that Mr Bryce s reception at Huntly was likely to be anything but cordial. However these predictions were to a very great extent erroneous, for, although there were a number of people in the hall not in accord with the speaker, they gave Mr Bryce a most patient hearing. Mr K. B. Cox was in tho chair. Mr Bryce on rising said that he lmd intended speaking upon the question of trade unions, but since his arrival at Huntly he had found that there was still a very sore feeling existing amongst the men who had taken part in the late strike, and he would be very sorry, lie said, to say or do anything which might have the effect in any way of stirring up strife. At a future date, however. when feelings had quieted down, he would be very glad to meet them, and give them a lecturo upon tho subject. At; the conclusion of tho meeting, which had been very orderly throughout, a large number of questions were asked and the replies were generally received with satisfaction. At the conclusion of Mr Bryce s address a vote of thanks and confidence was nroposed ; the Chairman doulined to give a ruling as the show of hands seemed to be about equal. ANOTHER CANDIDATE. Mr Peter lvay, of Ngaruawahia, has forwarded us a telegram ho received on Tuesday, from a Mr J. C. Brown, dated from Auckland, to the following effect:—"Up to-morrow as candidate for Waikato see me at train." Mr Kay in a inomo 011 the back of the document asks : " What member of the Brown family is he? Is it ;v hoax ! This can't bo Pukete Brown surely. As far as we can gather the gentleman referred by Mr Kay as Pukete Brown is bettor known in Waikato ae "Parson Brown." His initials, as well as theßo of Mr Brown now contesting the Tu;*peka seat, aro alike—both rejoice in the initials "J.C." We aro inclined to think the former must be Mr Kay's correspondent, as he is known to be of a very enterprising turn of mind.
