AUCKLAND MARKETS. Mr Alkx. AiTKEN'd Mahkbt Report for the week ending November lb— During the week the demand for many kinds of farm produce lias been tar in excess of supply AU through good quantities have been quitted at advanced ratea. Potatoes both new and old in particularly (food domand; the supply of new ha 3 been 20 tons, but an many more could have been quitted. Shepherds were sold at from £0 to £8 for prime samples, and gd for poor lots; kidnoys, prime samples Id to ljd, medium, 20 tons old potatoes ex Southern Cross, sold (in arrival at £4 10s to £5. Onions : Only Culifornian offering at 3jfd. Carrots, Gd to Is 3d. Wheat, 3a 8d ; maize, 3s fid ; bran and sharps, £4; flour, £0 to £11. 'Vegetables in good supply at very satisfactory prices. Bacon and hams coming forward freely. There is a Rood demand for primp hams at OJd t« 7-Jd ; poor, 4d to Bd; bacon prime quitted in good quantity at od to 0d ; poor, 3d to 4+d, rolls 4d; Canterbury bacon in cloth, 7W ; hams in cloth, lOd, equal numbers 7.? d. Cheese, tair supplies; prime lots, 4d to -Hd; loaves 5d to DJd. Eggs: The supply this week has been lifter; dfinand strong at 8d to 9d for hen eggs, and 8J to lOd for dnckeggs. Butter: Fresh has also been in shorter supply than usual at 4d toOd Keg butter: A very large quantity of that lett over from last season has been disposed of at from 2d to 2W. New keg biitter of prime qualify is in good supply, but the demand ii very small at od, Crown brand 3 tons quitted «t 7d, sterling brand pats, 10d; tinned Is. Fruit : All seasonable kinds in fiir supply. Goosebenie.", pfreen, 3d to 4d ; Cape gooseberries, 8d; loquats, 2.{d to4d; lemons, good Is 3d to Is Gd. very small 10d to Is; tomatoes, Sd. Bananas, HOO bunches to hand by S.s. Taupo, but these nra held over for Monday's a:ile. In the poultry department the supply was nearly up to the average, but there was a demand for unlimited numbers. Good table fowls realised from 2s ad to 'Js lid : others from Is lOd to as; roosters, 2s (id to 3s 7d; chicks, 8d to Is; ducks, from Is 10d to 2s Ud; Geese, 'te >ii to "is ; Turkeys, poor heffs, 4s to 4s 6d • small gobblers, ii.s to 7s ; heavy, 8s to 10s • pigeons, Ud to Iβ 2d ; canaries, 2t to he ; ducklings, (id to Is 3d. Pigs entered in fair numbers. Best lots, 10s to 18s 3d ; poor, &c, r,s (id to fts 3d ; pork, lJd t> 3d ; hares, Is 9d to 2s 2d ; rabbits, Is Gd per pair. Tuesday and Friday's produce sales wore well attended, with keen competition. The sain of the steamer Scotchman on Wednesday was also largely attended, but the bidding did not reach the reserve. At the outdoor sale of furniture held on Thursday there was a very large attendance, and good prices ruled throughout. Messrs Esam and Arthurs Wkkkly Report.—The holiday and wet weather combined have interfered with producers .supplying the market with the usual quantity of potatoes, and in consequence the demand has far exceeded supply. Inquiries for Shepherd's have been great, to fill orders for the Islands. Our prices have ranged from 2d to ; (d, and for kidneys Id to l.jri ; bags in each case 2d extra. There seems to bo a consensus of opinion that owing to tho excessively wet season tho crops will be much under the average. Hams and bacon are in good demand. Canterbury, in cloth, equal nu-nbers, per case 0: ( 'd to 7d ; local, 4d to Gd for bacon and Gd to 7Jd for hamn. Butter, as usual, in too plentiful supply, at any price from 3d to Eggs have come forward freely, and met with ready salo. Cheese: Six cases (tore I'actory realised -lid ; local factory in good demand at 4d to 4kl— \i more in small quantity. Twelve cases preserved rabbits (Gore Co.) brought Gs 5d to 7s 3d per dozen tins. Vegetables stagod in good quantity and' quitted at undermentioned prices. Tuesday's pawn sale was largely attended, and satisfactory rates obtained, tho quantity sold, considering recent events, being somowhat of a surprise.
