I deeply regret that at the last moment important family and business arrangements, which I am obliged tu make before leaving England, have compelled me to remain here a little longer thau I had intended. I am exceedingly sorry for this, although I fear that if I had arrived in Auckland on the Sth of November, aa I fully expected to have done, I should have been too late for the Eleciton. Under these circumstances, if the contest has not already taken place, I must leave my candidature entiiely in your hands. If you do me the honor to elect me during my absence, as a resident in the con ■ stituency, I shall at nil times be ready to do my utmost to further your local interests ; and in your House of Representatives I shall also do my best to support those principles of Economy.
