MR H. REYNOLDS IN ENGLAND,
London, October 4. Mil Hrnry Reynolds i-i not wanting his time, in fact the inquiries he has already instituted into the conditious under which the fro/en meat, dairy produce and fruit trades are conducted, havo convinced him that the interests of producers can be materially improved with bettor and more systematic organisation. Ilia investigations in London are not yet concluded, as acting on the advice of .Sir Francis he went north to Edinburgh in order to consult with Mr VV. S. Davidson, the managing director of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, before making a visit of inspection to the Danish dairy farms. Mr Davidson received him most kindly and is interesting himself iu hW mission and aiding him in every way. Mr Reynolds will be back in London about the Sth proximo in time to attend the Great Dairy Show, and then he will proceed to Denmark. Mr Alexander Watt, F.S.J., managing director of the Government farm at Dartmoor, and an authority on dairy farming, is affording Mr Reynolds much assistance. The sample »f New Zealand butter which Air Reynolds brought with him in the s.s. lonic has been examined by experts aud pronounced to be nearly equal to tho best Danish, and this is borne out by the price realised, viz., 112s per cwt. It is still very early in the season for colonial butters, and better pricos may bo realised later, when the bulk of the consignments arrive. Mr Reynolds is confident that during wintar the prices of New Zealand dairy produce can be improved upon those of the previous year, when prices were very low, os much of the produce was of inferior quality. Everywhere hois cautioned that New Zealander3 must be careful iu the manufacture, and must send nothing but the best of everything and uniform in quality. If these instructions are observed, ho is confident that unlimited quantities of both butter and cheese may be sold readily. One large dealer with whom he conversed, assured him he would much prefer handling New Zealand oheese to American, if the quality of the former wero uniform. Ho had made a good deal of monoy in the trade some years ago.
