AUCKLAND SHOW.

(BY TELEGRAPH—OWN OORUESI'ONIJKN'T.) Auckland, Last Night. The Agricultural Show opened at Potter's Paddock to-day. The entries of cattle are not so large as was anticipated, there only I being 74. Herefords were well represented, Messrs R. and E. Maclean being large ex- | hibitors in this cIaHS. In Ayrshire there were only two representatives, toth fine bulls, while cows were conspicuous by their absence. Jerseys, Alderneys, or any Channel Island breed made fine show, there being no less than 22 entries Mr l'\ L. Wright was the largest exhibitor, and his cattle were greatly admired. Mr J. Bowman shows a fine young Alderney bull, under two years, bred by Mr J. M. Clarke, The other competitor in this class was Mr Bainbridea who showed a yofing bull bred by the New Zealand Pedigree Stud Company. For Bheop there were in all 93 entries received, Lincolns being most largely represented. Romney Marsh (.hough fow in number are fine animals. In this class Mr Woodward of Mount Albert, is the sole exhibitor. Leicesters, Southdowns, Shrowshires, Oxford and Hampshires were all represented, and numbered 44 out of the 93 entries. Mr J. McNicol was the largest exhibitor of Lincolns. Swine : Although there were only 21 entries received for pigs i>(fill the specimens exhibited are generally Speaking good. In past years black Berkshires generally took the first; position, while in the present show while Yorkshires lead the way both in number and quality. The recent show uf dogs held in Queen-street manifestly militated against the success of the exhibits. At the present show only 38 entries were received. The show of poultry also was not satisfactory the total ■nmber being only 61.
