Hoggen, proprietor of the Woodville Examiner, for couteuipt for publishing a Parliamentary paper bearing on the case Lowry v. Hawkes Bay Island Board. His Honour Justice Edwards seemed inclined to receive the application with disapproval, but eventually reserved judgment. It is expected that the German squadron will arrive here from Australia between the 10th and 15th November. The directors of the Gas Company have decided not to increase the price of gas,' notwithstanding the increased price of coal. The City Council at a soecial meeting today decided to ask the citizens to observe the 2Sth inst., Demonstration Day as a general holiday. The Mamari arrived at London on the 20th inst., from New Zealand, with her cargo of moat in good condition. The Harbour Board employees will observe Demonstration Day. Mr KJward Dixon, formerly c ordial manufacturer, and enthusiast in cricketing matters, died last night, aged (!o. The l J etone Borough Council has decided to raise a loan of £20,000 for drainage works, and a water supply.
