WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Hamilton East, at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. There were present : Crs. Primrose (chairman), Kallendar, Coates, Forrest, Barugh, Seddon and Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were confirmed, and the outgoing correspondence read and adopted. Costs.—Mr W. Birss wrote asking for payment of his costs in connection with the case against F. Carter for unregistered dog.—The Clerk reported that if he would send in his account it would be paid. Road.— Mr W. Collins applied for a road being made to admit of his approach to his house and land at Taupiri, as at present it is impossible to get to either owing to a deep cutting made by the railway where the road crosses. He stated he had been stopped by the railway authorities from crossing the line, but as they cut up the road he thought they should give something in return. It was explained that the road was in this condition when he bought the land.—The Clerk was instructed to write to the railway authorities that they have cut away the county road by the line, but the Council would be willing to take a level crossing a short distance away. Funds. —The Clerk reported that the Council funds was £172 Ms 3d in credit, while the riding accounts stood as follows :— In credit: Rangiriri, (SG'GtalOd; Kirikiriroa, £72 10s L'd : Tamahere, £31 1% 7:fii ; Cam bridge Borough, £'47 Us 10d. In debit: Cambridge Borough, £78 18a . r )d ; Raglan County, t'O 12s 3d ; Model Farm account, £107 iia lid. Deviation.—The engineer was instructed to proceed with the deviation at Locke's road. Kki'.uus.— Cr, Johnson reported that he had had the necessary repairs made on tho road between Taupiri and Huntly. Fuumi.vc — The engineer was instructed to cull for tenders far forniim; about one uiilu of the Great South Road between Tole's Hill aud th« school house at OhineWai. Giiavbi. I'll. —Cr. Johnson was authorised to make enquiries with regard to getting a gravel pit in the Ohinewai district. Payments.—The following accounts were passed for payment.—Waikato Hospital Board, £70; \V. Patterson, £1 7s; W. Birss, .£2 (is ; C. Vincent, £2 ; .J. Reid, Is lid ;'travelling expenses, £2 10.i; clerk, £'12 10s. This was all the business.
