Tks Waikato Times Offict, Monday. WAIKATO MARKETS. Mil W. J. Huntkr Rwonrs:—At Ngaruawahia, on Thursday, the first spring cattle sale uf the season was held. The yards wero well tilled with a good class of cattle. Hirst of y<>"ng stuck showing careful breeding, consequently met ready sale at full Ohaupo rates. Dairy cows wero but poorly represented, and not required. A few sold at fair prices. With the exception of tlieso all cattle sold as follows :—Heifers at calving or just calved, £2 7s (id to £3 ; d-iiry cows, in low condition, i' 2 2s (id to £3; wellhred steer calves, II to !) months old and good sorts, 30s, 31s, and 323 respectively ; inferior, 21s to 21s ; heifer calves, 12s to IS* ; 1 and U-year-nld heifers, 20s to L'l 12s (id ; sto'ru cows, £1 12s to i' 2 ; three nnd tour - year - old steers, U3 i.o to 10s ; to 2-year old steers, £1. Lite to £2 7s (id. At Cambridge »n Saturday the yards were well filled with cattle and nearly every beast sold at Rood prices. But few horses were brought forward, and these of poor stamp. Several sold at fair prices. A large quantity of produce, etc., sold well. Dairy cows, £2 1(U to £3 ; yearling steers, from 2as to 27s (id ; U-yoar-old ,-El 13s to 122 3s: store cows, 325; fat cows, £'3; fat ewes, ]3s tid ; fowls, Is to Is (id ; potatoes, lis to 7b 01 per bag. Have sold privately through the week li) 0 cross-bred awes and lambs, 13s the couple; 254 large cross-bred and longwool hoggets (many prime mutton), the former ored by Mr Searancko and the latter by Mr Thos. Hunt Kangiaohia, at 13a 7Jd; 200 large crossbred hoggets, at 12s Gd.

Aitken's Makkist Report for the week ending September 27 :—Large quantities of most lines of produce quitted nt fair prices.— Potatoes : All consignment* 1> hand up to Wednesday were quitted at AI3 to £3 IDs, but by Fiidav stocks were again large, and with difficulty prime Southern and Napier lots were quitted in moderate quantities, at from -10s to iiOs per ton. Onions of tirst-olasH quality were in ■active demand, for Island orders, but none arrived in time : Prime havu fetched 2d ; poor, Id to lid. Girlie : no sale. Vegetables of all kinds iu full supply, at low prices. Wheat, prime fowl, 3s tid ; poor, 'Si; milling, a parcel to hand quitted »t 3-< 7d. sacks extra; maize, 3s to 3s 4d; bran, £4 10s; sharps, £4 5a ; Hour, £10 to £11 ; oats, 2s to 2a 3d ; carrots, !)d to Is (id ; pumpkins, 4s to 4s 3d. Bacon and hams: Heavy supply, principally of very poor quality—this was sold at to 3M fir bacon, mid 3d to 5d for hams ; bacon, prime Si to (id; hums, lid to 7d. Cheese is very Hiiarce, all lots to hand quitted at 3d to •tfd. .Eggs : Increased quantity to hand, but there wni , a demand for any quantity at li.Ul to M for hen eggs, and Kjjtl to !).{d for duck eggs ; consigners should pack in boxes of not more than 15 dozen, to ensure highest rites. Butter : Fresh, very plentiful; prime, r>d to 7d ; poor, 4d to sd; Lang's separator, 30d ; honey, none (there is a demand) ; lard, prime 3d, poor l.[d. Fruit (islnnd) hns been plentiful. Two sales were hfild, at which 1300 bunches of bananas, ex Wainui, realised from Is to 2s lid per bunch ; -140 casei oranges, ex same steamer, realised from 8d to !)jd per dozen, and 3s to 4k (id per small case ; coconnuti, 7s ; pines, 4-4 lid. Local apples : A few enses to hand in prime condition realised 3 : (d to Id. Lemons have been more plentiful at S.jd to Is j small, (id to 6W. Local oranges, 4s to 5-1 per Ciise ; mandarins, 4s 3d per case. Tomatoes, BJd per lb. In the poultry department the'supply was large. Upwards of 1500 head penned. Competition was keen, and high prices ruled throughout the sale. The same might bo said of pigs, of which about liO were entered, and sohl well.
