ENGLISH UNIONISM.

London-, September 27. Thy: secretaries of the Sailors and Firemen , s unions have issued a eirculnr warning the branches to be extremely cautious in any action they may take, as the Shipowners' Unions are apparently trying to provoke a conflict with a view of completely crushing the unions. The circular states shat it is expected the largest labour battle ever known will take plucj within three months, and the various secretaries are asked to take immediate glens so as to be prepared to meet it. It also admits the fiuanchl weakness of the Dockers' Union owing to recent stiikes. The Southampton employers arc organising a Freo Labourers' Association. The Union S.S. Co., of England, have warned the men out on strike at Southampton that unless they abandon their dictatori.il attitude permanent crows composed of nonUnionist will ba engaged immediately. The tobacco hands at the Victoria Docks who refu-cd work because one of their number declined to contribute more than Is a-week in aid of the Australian strikers, have returned to work.
