"Weston, convicted of forging a cheque purporting to be signed by Isiror Emanuel Weitliiiuer, for £300, and which also bore the forged name of Lady Dunlo, has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. Messrs Tv?er and Co. announce that one of their line steamers will leave for the colonies every 21 days. The Maori King and Star of England are advertised to take cargo at the same rate as sailing ships, and on the way to New Zealand will call at Brisbane. It is expjeted that the South Australian loan, amounting to two millions and a-half, will shortly be placed on the market. Sir Saul Samuel, Lord Wolseley, aad Mr Howird Vincent to-day inspected the Mansion Magazine Rifle at Sheffield. The weapon, which has been recently adopted by the King of Belgians, is claimed to be superior to the English magazine rifles, and Lord Wolseley expressed himself highly pleased wi h it. Sir Saul Samuel is sending out a specimen to Sydney.
