Lyons plaj ed a fine innings for 99 runs, which he knocked up in seventy minutes. Later. In the Middlesex innings, Ferris took five wickets for 111, and Turner five fur 120. The Australians made 'Jol— Murdoch, 20; Trotter 11 ; Turner,:*!); Blaekhaui, 24. Lyons gave two chances in his line innings of 99, which included no less than twenty boundary hits. Turner also played a dashing innings. The fielding of the J£nc;lishtncn was splendid, and the wicket played as well as on tlij first day.
