Land Sirrri.RMß.N-r.—ln rsply t> a petition from settlers in the Whangape Riding, Raglan County, for increased representation in the Council by an addition member, Cr. Urooks, in siippmrting the prayer of the petion, said that not only fr»ni the size of tho riding, but also from the rapid settlement for some tiino past going on in the riding by a number of people taking up land for bona fide occupation, additional representation should be gnen. During the sitting of the Council, Cr. Brooks also referred to the .settlement going oil in tho Whatigapo Hiding. The new settlers already added to the roll have taken up IitXJU acres of land, valued at .KSUOU, and since then another 0000 acres had been taken up amongst many now settlers. Most of the laud is of excellent quality and of liincstono formation.
