Tiik following is tlio concluding portion of the report of the meeting of the above Council, held on Saturday last, which was crowded out or. last issue :— Oxi-'Oko-Matamata Koad.—Only two tenders wore received for the two contracts on the above road. Both woro from (i. Walker, .lunr., of Tuaraparahara, and both were accepted. The amounts were JCI7L Th Id and IX> Os lid.—Several of the councillors were undcir the impression that these contracts would complete this road, but it appears i'l. r >o more will be required to do so. KuraisrNfl Obkiukus. — Tho following were appointed returning officers at the forthcoming county election, for the various ridings mentioned :—Waitoa, Alexander lireinner; Te Aroha, Francis j'avitt; Patatere, Chan. Tuck: Taotaoroa, <!eo. Dickonson ; Matamata, .John Simpson. Thk Tiiamway.—Cr. Mills suggested that the tramway plant and rolling stock should lie inspected by someone appointed by the Council, to .see if it was in prwper repair and K<>»tl order.—The engineer, Mr Pavitt, was instructed to inspect it and report at next meeting of the Council. Oamiiuiihjk ■ Tai'ka.wa Road. —The chairman having looked into the matter of acquiring land for road purposes in the Hiuuora No. 3 Block, he advised that the cheapest method of procedure would be to take the lvnivn portion under the clauses of the Public Works Act relating to native lands, and that the proprietors of the Matamata Kstnto be asked to dedicate the remaining portion.—This was agreed to. Kivku ll(iAiti).—The Chairman thought the question of forming a River Board should be allowed to stand over till next meeting.—Cr. Mills: I have no objection, but you will find it will have to comfi to it. CAMimiDOK-OxKOiiiiUoAii.—Cr. Ifamner reported that a portion of this road near Cranstone was greatly obstructed by briars, otc—(Jr. lirunskill undertook to have them cleared away by the surfaceman.
