HIDEOUS SPECTACLE.
EXECUTION BY ELECTRICITY. (by klkctrip tklkgraph.—copyright). Nkw York, August Ij. Kemmlkr has been executed by electricity. There was a bungle at the execution, and the electricity had been applied three times before life was declared to be extinct. The condemned man was a pitiable helpless maniac. August 7. Kevnmler appeared quite calm, but a number of spectators fainted at the frightful contortions, which continued for three minutes after the first shock. The body was much burnt, and presented a hideous spectacle. The medical gentlemen present assert that the execution was a horrible case of butchery. The execution has caused intense excitement, and the Press demand the repeal of the laws.
