RINK CARNIVAL AT CAMBRIDGE.

A (JAKNIvAI. and fancy dress ball was held in tho Public Hall, Cambridge, on Friday evening to wind up the rinking season. A large number were present, not a few being in fancy attire, which added greatly to the appearance of the gathering. Kinking was indulged in from 7.!i0 u.tn. to O.HO p.m., after which dancing was commenced and was kept up with spirit till 1.00 a.m. Amongst those in fancy dress we noticcd tho following: Misses, C. Gane, Roman Peasant; A. Williams, Tambourine Girl; O.Williams, Nun; A. Webber, Bayadere Girl ; M. Dillon, Poppy ; W. Walker, 13.A. of Girton College; E. Forrest, Florian Shepherdess; L. Forrest, Pierrot; M. Bach, Queen of Roses; T. McCren, Italian Peasant; M. Berrinsdeau, Sailor Girl. Messrs W. Wallace, Neapolitan Sailor; ,1. M. Scott, Californian Digger ; J. Bell, Clown ; H. Stewart, Tambo ; F. Arrner, Nigger Jockey ; L. Bull, Naval Lieutenant; I<\ Buckland, Nigger Clown, and R. Parr Artillery Man. Tho general ouinion was that Miss Patterson was Belle of the ball, and that Miss Walkers' was tho best fancy dress. The music was supplied by Messrs Hartly and Drnry on the piano and cornet, respectively. A large number of spectators were present to witness the rinking, the reserved seats being (juite full, and we trust the pecuniary results will prove satisfactory to the proprietor, Mr A. Souter, as the season, on the whole, has not been a good one for l inking in Cambridge.
