Thornton will captain the local team, which is considered a very strong one. July 31. Jones, Trott, and Walters are regarded ns the failures of the Australian Kleven. The pecuniary results of the tour have, so far, been excellent. The Australian cricketers have been invited to play a series of matches in America in .September and October. Jn the match against the Australians the Lyric Club scored lOli in their tirst innings, Stoddart 1!), Ulyett'J, Maurice Head L.VTKIi. The Australian Kleven have declined the "ller to visit Athcrict ou their way back to Australia. In the match with the Lyric Club eleven the Australians lost eight wickets for 13!), I'lackha'ri ami Jones are not playing, and Mold (i,f Lancashire) and Ulyett are playing instead of Lord Hawke and Hriggs.
