FACTORIES AND SHOPS BILL.

(lIY TKI.KliItAl'lI. — I'UKSS ASSOCIATION). WuLMNIiTON, Last Night. A j.Aur;n and influential deputation, composed of representatives of businesses in the my, which are directly affected by the Factories nnd Shops Bill now before Parliament, which provides for the supervision and regulation of worlc rooms, and li ,niting the bonis of business, waited on JLr Hislop to-night. The purpose of the interview was to point out the number of objectionable clauses which the Hill is said to contain, and to suggest amendments in place of them. Several of the deputationists sp ike iv.irmly against the measure ns a whole, and a member of a, large lirm of ironmongers in the city remarked, that if lie was going to be imposed upon by any more objectionable measures he would clear out of the colony. Mr liislop was urged upon to pause before pushing the Hill in its present form, some of (hose stating that if several of the clauses were enforced they would have to give up business. It was suggested that employers of labour in the four largo centres, should render the (iovernmeiit assistance in framing a .suitable measure. Mr 1 [islop promised to consider the objections raised by the deputation, but s iid there was no likelihood of the (iovernmeiit doing anything to harra.ss capital, as the present measure was for the purpose of protecting both employers and em--1 ployed.
