WAIKATO FARMERS' CLUB.

Cambridge Branch. NoTwmi.sTAS'lilNi; the uiicoinfortably wet I evening on Monday, the members of the j above Club met and curried through tins business in the usual manner, .Mr 0. K. I Clark pusiding. I Nkt,' Mk.muki<s.—Messrs ,T. M. Scott (of | ' Ptikerimu) and John Hutchinson (of l Orakaii) were elected membeis of the Club. ' A Hoiisk L J .iii.\iu:.-Mr .1. McNicol I wrote to the chairman on .Inly 22n.i :— ' Waikato stallion parade. DearSir,—Owing ' no doubt to the fact of there being no ' Farmers' Club or aiinilar institution in i ' Waikato for many years, the stallion j ' parade has been conducted by Mr J. ,S. ' liiickland, and since he left by myself. In ' every part of New Zealand the stallion ' parade is always held under the, auspices of ' Farmers' Clubs and Pastoral and Agnailturn! Societies, and now that we have a strong Farmers' Club, I think the slai- ' lion parade should lie taken in hand by it, and I. should like your Club to take m ; hand the next one. If you do I will under- , t.ke, to >;et up a jumping match, mid .' perhaps, a sheep dog tri don the s une day, . and make it more attractive. It shouid ,

be held about the end of .Septembjr. Kindly give the matter your attention at your next uieeting and let me know the result. The Chairman sail the matter had been diseus-etl by the committee on Saturday, and they recommended that the parade be held on the same day as Mr McNicl's special horse s lie at Cambridge, and that the Chili undertake the uunagement of it. He thought the thanks of the farmers were due to the auctioneers for carrying on the parade during the interregnum of the. Farmers' Club. Mr J Anderson moved a resolution in accordance with the recommendation of the. committee.—ln seconding this, Mr Forrest also suggested that a bull fair should be held on the same day as this horse parade. If the auctioneers had not room for the bulls on that day, it would be well to have the fair on a day previous to the parade. The motion was carried, and it was also decided to communicate with Mr McNicol re holding a bull fair and sale. Aoitiun/iTiui. Statistics.—The tabulated form prepared by Mr H. R. Hyatt had been considered by the committee, who recommended two slight alterations. The Secret iry was instructed to forward conies of the proposed form to the Hamilton liranch, and to the I'okokohe, Maugore and Opotiki Farmers' Clubs inviting their cooperation. Nt/i'ifE ok Mono.v. -Mr Wells not being present to move the, motion standing m his name, the matter was adjourned until no.xt meeting. Siikki' Urkhium:.—The Chairman said he trusted he should be able to prevail upon some competent member to read a paper, at the next meeting, upon sheep breeding in the Waikato. It was a subject of great importance for many men had gone into the business with nit making the slightest preparation, and they would be grievously disappointed, and this would bo giving the Waikato a bad name. He hoped to got someone to give papers on sheep and horse breeding, and then Mr Kd. Reynolds would give one upon dairy cattle. 'Mr Forrest hoped some kind friend would come to their assistance, for he, like many other farmers was in tiouhle about his lambing ewes. Jlo had a 1 »t _*»f good green oats that ho had been sowing for them, and now he was told that if he put the ewes upon them, a number of them would probably die. Mr Anderson said the ewes should have been put upon the oats some time ago and they would have, greatly bentitted. The Chairman said if no one else would read a paper, no would, for although he did not know Hindi about the matter, it would provoke discussion, aul doujtless elicit valuable ' information. i This was all the business of importance. ' T.dinagc and Spnrgeon may be great i !>reaehers. I grant, said the parson, but I i )nn bet yon a dollar they novor wore better I loots than those made by I). Salmon, of i Haii'ilt hi, ,
