A QUERY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Would you be good enough to insert the following que.-y. lam personally interested, as will be seen, but I think apart from that it has also public interest. Firstly is there any public property, or body, or works, known here near Isgarnawah'ia under the name of "Spring's Road ?" Contracts were posted up on the public advertising board calling for tenders for " Hauling and delivering" timber for the building of road bridges (I presume public roads). I forwarded a tender, and although I have watched very closely the columns of your journal or elsewhere for the announcement of the successful tenderer I have failed. Unofficially I have heard that the contract was let, and for considerably more than I tendered, that is ."Oh. Sir, [ trust thia is not true ! Would yon or some of your numerous readers enlighten those ijvtorested in matters public—this case in particular—ht/w the mystery oxists, as my tender complied with all terms required by the specifications.—l am, etc., Paul Aubrey. Ngarnawahia.
