CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.

The ahnvo body met, in the Public Office, Cambridge, on Saturday, at 2.15 p.m. Present : Messrs T. Wells (chairman), E. Howitt, J. Fisher and K. Kirkwond. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Fun/.K.—Mr Kirkwood, on behalf of the committee appointed to report upon the furze growing on Domain lands, presented a list of tho allotments on which the nuisance exi.-ts. In this list the names of the Chairman and Mr Hewitt nppeaieri, but tho former at once moved, "That notice be served upon tho lessees to remove all furze growing upon the allotments leased by them from tlie Domain Bnard within ono month from date, failing which the Board will do the work at lessee's risk and cost." Seconded by Mr Fisher and carried.—This resolution also applies to the Cambridge West lessees. —Mr Hewitt said it would be as much as the land is worth to clear tli3 allotment that Mr McNicol had taken over from Mr Bull. —The Chairman sahl thn land must be elearod. The Borough Council were taking action in the matter, and should be assisted in overy possible manner to get rid of tho evil.—Mr Kirlcwood wished furze fences would be done away with, for the man was not born that could prevent its spreading.

Section 17.—Tho Chairman thought the present a bad time for leasing this big section, and it was resolved not to do anything with it till the next meeting.

Another Kissixg-gate.—Mr Kirkwond asked the Board to put a kissing-gatoat the lower end of the lake grounds, as many soliool-cliildren came that way and got fclicir clothes torn on tho barbed wire fence. — Left to the chairman and Mr Kirkwood to sje to. Si'KUiMKX Plants.—Mr Kirkwood said Mr Hensun had a splendid Ccdrus Dendnra and a variegated holly that would look well in the lake reserve.—Tlio cliaiiniiui said ho was afraid the holly would not thrive us the fungus was very fatal to it ; however, lie would interview Mr Hensun about it. Ho thought it perhaps might live on the lower (I .t, uoar to (he water. If* thought the Board were indebted to Mr Kirkwood, and he trusted that anyone who had really fine .specimen trees to dispose, of would communicate with the Board. This closed tho business.
