WAIKATO FARMERS' CLUB
Hamilton Branch.
The usual monthly meeting of the Hamilton branch of the Waikato Farmers' Club was held in Thk Waikato Times Buildings at 3 p.m. on Saturday. There were present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), C. Barton, A. Swarbrick, K. W. Dyer, Patte, T. Kothwell, W. A. Murray, R C. Shepherd, J. Parr, K. Bradley, D. Henry and H. J. Gwyimo. Owing to pressure on our space we aro unable to give a full report. PitOK Thomas'' Lkcturb.— It was ro solved to pay t!in expenses (£1 l">s) incurred by Prof. Thomas in connection with his lecture in Hamilton, and a vote of thanks 'vas accorded to Mrs Gwynne for her hospitality to Prof, and Mr.s Thomas during their visit.
Anthelmintic— Mr X. A. Limey wrote, offering to supply this well-known medicine to members of tho club at reduced prices. .Several members spoke of tlio e/ticieiicy of the anthelmintic, and recommended anyone whose Hocks aro suifering from lung worm to try it.
SuGUKSTEp Co-OFEKATION.—Mr Vi. C. Shepherd laid on tlie t ible a letter from tho Secretary of the Trades and Labour Council, in reply t) ono from himself pointing out the difference in the amount paid to the farmer for his produce and tho amount paid for it by the consumer, and asking for tho co-operation of the Council in trying to establish a bolter state of affairs. The rsply suggested that the club should send a delegate to one of tho Council meetings and then the subject could be discussed and remedies proposed as might seem best. —Mr John Parr offered to attend at his own expense.—This oiler was accepted. The discussion of tho question was deferred until next meeting, so as t) allow members to get further information on the subject. Limb.—Two letters were road by Mr W. A. Murray from gentlemen in Otago, both testifying to the value of liino used in agriculture. These letters will be reproduced in our Supplement of tho lilth in*!.
Paper—Owing to tlio lateness of the hour, the reading of Mr Murray's paper was postponed.—Mr Murray said that as lie intended to read tlio paper in Auckland at an early date, it would most likely be in the hands if members before next meeting, it being intended to issue it in pamphlet form. —A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Murray for the trouble taken by him in preparing the paper, and regrot was expressed that the hour was too late to allow it being read.
Memiikr.—Mr K. F. Knclie, of Oliineroa, Shaftesbury, was elected a member of the club.
