The Ifnikuto limes Office, Wednesday, MARKET REL'ORTS. Tun Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report as under ftlKLiioi'ii.sj:, .1 nne IS.—The week baa boon marked by quietness in tlio grain market, little disposition being shown on the part of tlio trade to purchase freely. Town millers have for the moment supplied their iinrn> diato requirements, and are only purchasing wheat when tempted by a concession on late rates, The weather has continued highly favourable in farming interests, while the early sown crops are making considerable progress and look healthy' and strong, though iu one or two localities a little rank. Field work will be completed shortly, and there is then a prospect of the question of country stocks being docided. The European markets are dull and inactive. The Continental crops are looking well, and hence there does not appear to bo much prospect of outside prices advancing. Wheat: Market easier ; but not much doing. To-day we sold prime at 3s B?.d, and fair average milling at Us Bd. Oats : A fair demand, which, however, is chiefly confined to utout quantities. The bulk of the shipments recently to hand from New Zealand have been direct purchasers on millers' account. Today we sold Calcutta.-; at Is 'Jd to 2s ; Danish at Is Okl to 2s Sid, and stout luts up to 2s IO.Jd. Dcskdin, June I!).—Grain—Wheat: This market continues linn, and although transactions are not extensive, millers and others are operating quietly, and are taking up mostly all consignments now coming to hand iu first-class milling condition. Some descriptions, such as prime Tuscan and white velvet, still seem to be in short supply, and would command up to late rates. At the same time there is little urno demand for second-class wheat, which is in abundant supply, and only saleable at prices which sellers in the meantime hardly feel justified in accepting, trusting to a better demand springing up iu the event of better quality being unobtainable. There isa very lair demand experienced for fowls' wheat, but buyers are not disposed to advance. We quota host velvet and Tuscan, 3s 3d to lis 5d ; medium to good, 3s to 3s 2d ;jmedium to good red wheat, 2s lOd to 3s j inferior to medium, 2s 5d to 2s 'Jd (ex store, sacks weighed in, terms.)— Oats: The market d.-ies not shmv very much improvement, but at the same time a quiet business is being done, and owing to the suitablo tonnage being available, sales are more easily ellected of short blight sorts and at slightly better prices. The quantity coming to hand lately shows a very considerable falling off, and no doubt, if sellers were less inclined to push sales, a slight advance might ba obtained ; but considering that stocks are ■still very heavy, buyers will not willingly follow much of a rise, but content themselves by purchasing in retail quantities which would probably result in leaving consignments on hand perhaps longer than might bo desirable. At the moment it is rather difficult to predict the future of tho market. Me'intimo we quote : Prime milling, Is -Id to ]s Ud ; best beod, 1s 3.M to Is Id ; medium to good, Is 3d to Is 3id ; inferior, Is to Is 2d (ex store, extra, net).—Potatoes: A moderately good demand is expeiienced for thesp, ami really good boilers, which are - ery hard to procure would fetch enhanced values; but nearly all on the market at the moment being of very indifferent quality, there is no improvement in values. We quote prime, litis to ti7s (id ; others, -10s to 55s per ton.— Dairy Produce: Tho market is over supplied with inferior butter, for which there is no sale, while the quantity of prime (lotted is limited, and sates readily tnade at 7d to Sd per lb. Factory cheese is saleable ;• t -Id per lb for medium size, while sellers hold for more.

Chbistciiukcii, June -'o.—'Wheat: In sympathy with Hume advices, and owiiicr to scarcity of freight, tlio local market exhibits a somewhat weaker tone. At the same time holders are not disposed to ticcupt any substantial reduction, ho transactions uro on a limited scale. Tuscan may be quoted at .'is Id ; Pearl, lis lid ; Hunter's, L's 011 ; '.'s 10d, f.0.b., sacks extra Oats: Beyond the filling of a few small orders, thorn is nol hing dojnc? locally, and tiriee.s are withonl. change. Milling are worth Is 7d to Is 8d ; ■ tout feed, Is od to Is (id ; ordinary, Is Id, sacks and cost, cx store, extra. --Barley : Trade is ,-taprnant at prosont, as it lias liei'ii lor some lime past. I'ritne malting is scarce, and quoted at Ih, nomi 11.illy : uieili'im, L's Id to :"'.s Sd ; teed lots, from Is 10.1, ij.ieki. extra. (Iruss seeds: i'or ryegrass; there in only nominal eirjuiiy, at 4s !M to ."n per bullcl for beat heavy seed, (.'oeksfool has had more demand, and good machine dressed is now i|\ioted at Id to l.(d per lb, :-:i>;Ks extra. Potatoes had more enquiry during the week, but the market nloses virtually the s:nno a.s at last quotations. Current price* are !o.s to'l7s lid per ton at country stations, sacks exlra. Hairy produce : liultor is in request, at 7jd to Hd per lb for best. Cheese remains dull at od lo ,!M per lb.
