MiNtN'r:,—Mr Ueorge X. Mc(4ruer, of the Crown, Karangahake, has at length finished the connections betwoen the newlydiscovered reef in the Waitiuvheta and the Reduction plant and has commenced bringing ore to the mill. The drying floor in connection with the Lainbortnn mill has been finished and the new steal balls for the mill, which arrived from England per the Coptic, are being carted up the. hill. The ore now being grassed is of excellent quality, and should bo worth about &S per ton right through. The ore from Messrs Moore and party's tribute in the Kenilwr.rth, which was recently bought 'by Mr I'hilip, of Pacroa, is to bo shipped to England foi treatment. There are altogether about l."i or -JO tons, the exact value of which is not yet decided, but it is known to bo very valuable stuff. The ore was bought at a certain percentage on the assay value. The other mines at Knrangahake are working spasmodically, with the exception of the Tvanhoe, and there is great complaint at the very large area of land locked up by capitalists and held simply for speculative purposes. At Owharoa, Farmer and party arc doing steady payable work in the Smilo of Fortune, and Alex. Mackay and party are getting through a lot of dead work in their ground, and expect to reap some benelit shortly. At Waiteknuri there is a lot of energetic prospecting going on, the recent fillip to mining here being a great inducement to local people to back prospectors. The Waihi district is keeping up its record, the company having sent last week 7200z. to Auckland. Littlejolm and party, of the Silvetton, arc wiring in at the good ftulF thoy have recently unearthed, and have a fair amount to grass. At Maratoto, Mr Moore will clean np on .Saturday or Monday, and expects over a thousand ounces. The bullion, however, is of very poor quality. .li'hKM.si,.—The R.M. and I'olice Court sit 011 Monday, before Mr H, \V. North croft, R.M. There were three police cases all auainst Mr M'iKuiinb, of the Owharoa Hotel, and nil arising from the raffle of a horse, alleged to have been held there.
