THE MOON IS NOT MADE OF GREEN GHEESE.
Apropos of Matthew Arnold, it seems that his son Mat had very decided opinions. One night Uie boy heard some one say that the rnoon was made of green eheose. "Very qnicldy l;e said ; "1 don't believe the moon is made of green cheese. 1. Don't you ?" said his father. " why not?" "Oh," said the young gentleman, "I don't know why, biifc I don't." " Well, for my part," said his father, " I have no respect for people who give opinions for whioh they pan give no reasops." Young Mat was very muoii mortified and went oft' by himself to hide his feelings. The next morning, as bright as possible, he greeted his father with this : "I know now why the moon is not made of green cheese. I found it out in Genesis." " Ah, ,, said Matthev Arnpld, S., " You have the advantage of me. I did not know the subject was mentioned in Genesis." " Oh, yes, papa," said the boy, " there is an account of the creation and the moon \j"sp {j)ade before there were any cows !" So Matthew the younger triumphed over Matthew che older.
