TAOTAOROA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above body was held at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at 11 a.m. Present : Messrs 11. J. Kallendar (chairman), J; Forrest, S. Seddon, H. R. Bruuskili and H. J. Tumor. The minutes of the annual meeting were read and duly confirmed. Thk Balanck-Shekt.—The balance-sheet having been' returned by the AuditorGeneral, it was read, and was then signed by the chairman. It showed, for the year ending March 31st: Expenditure, £107 5s 8d ; and receipts, £2G7 3s sd. The credit balance in the Bank at that date was £159 17s 9d. At the present time it is £140 15s 3d. The Board placed £150 on fixed deposit twelve months ago but have had to draw against it, and at the next meeting in July they wdl withdraw £50 and place it to current account; this with the proceeds of a farthing rate, they calculate will meet all exuenses for the year. The Rate.—On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr ,-Brunskill, it was unanimously resolved to strike a rate of one farthing in the pound. Un'likdiqaxed Roam.—The clerk of the Piako County Council wrote enclosing a copy of letter from Mr W. F. Buckland, of Auckland, referring to several of the roads in the Taotaoroa riding being undcdicated. (This letter was given at length in our report of the' Piako Council's meeting in last Tuesday's issue:)— The Clerk said he did' not know if the Bridgwater road was dedicated, but he was sure it bad been duly taken under the " Public Woiks Act," for Messrs Whitaker and Russell did the work, tor which the Board had paid £4 4s.—No one appeared to know anything of the plans which the County Council stated had been presented to the Board.—The county clerk was consulted and he stated they were in the County Office awaiting the Board's pleasure. The member for the riding kneiy of the plans having been presented to 'the Board.—Considerable discussion ensued, and it was eventually decided not to'take any action in the matter at present. - Several of the roads mentioned run through the Auckland Agricultural Company's'land and join the Cambridge district roads, and it was thought that when the roads are required conjoint action would be necessary. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for paymentGeo. Watt-am, £10 2s ; W. Souter and Co., 17s (id ; clerk, £5; treasurer, lis. Contracts. —Two accounts were received for work done on contracts J\ T os. l and 2, on the-road near Mr Turner's, but some of tho meffibers objected to the manner in Which the job had been left, and it was resolved to hold them over for further inspection. This was all the business of importance.
