TO THK EDITOR. Silt, —As 1 see notices in your paper that curtain cattle will be sold if not claimed and expenses paid, perhaps it would be as well if the police were to take this matter up on behalf of the trustee and inform the parties advertising stray cattle that such a notice does not even give them an excuse to sell. There are public pounds within reach, and where there is no public pound the law lays down what steps are to be taken in the matter. It certainly gives no authority to sell in this fashion and pocket the proceeds.—l am, etc.,
