An Interesting Case. The Licensing Committee sat on Saturday, June 7. Present: Chairman, Mr .Tames Walton, and Messrs W. Taylor. C. Storey, E. Cunningham, and J. B, Teasdale. Application on behalf of Mr Patrick Gleeson for a license in respect of tha premises known as the Commercial Hotel Te Avvamutu. Mr Gresham appeared as counsel for Mr Gleeson, while Mr (Dyer of Hamilton) appeared for Mr Lewis, the licensee of the Te Awamutu Hotel, who opposed the granting of the license. The police report was favourable.
Persons having old jewellery in their possession may have it made up into new and fashionable articles by leaving tho same with H. Howdon, watchmaker and jeweller, Hamilton. Twelve years ago, when wo tried to introduce Van Houten's cocoa in the Auckland market, people found the price too high, but now hardly any other cocoa is selling, for the public found out it is the purest and withal the cheapest.
