LICENSING COMMITTEES.

BOROUGH OF HAMILTON. The annual meeting of the Borough of Hamilton Licensing Committee was held at the Court House, Hamilton, at noon on Saturday last. The Commissioners present were Messrs Geo. Edgecumbe (chairman), R. F. Sandes, Jno. Parr, and J, S. Edgecumbe. Mr Thos. Kirk acted as jlerk. The police reports with reference to all the hotels were favourable. Commercial Hotel.—Mr L. O'Neill appeared on behalf of Mrs P. J. Bright (widow of the late licensee), and applied for a new license. Application granted. Royal Hotel.—Mr W. M. Hay appeared on behalf of the present licensee, Mr A. SchulUe, and made application for a new license. Reports were received from the police and members of the Licensing Com : mittees in the districts in which the applicant had previously conducted hotels, and with one exception (which contained no direct charge) were all favourable and recommended Mr Scliultze as a fit person to conduct any hotel. The application for a new license was prranted, and the present license was transferred from Mr H. M. Meredith to Mr Schultze. Renewals.—Renewals of hotel licenses were applied for by Mrs Gwynne, Hamilton Hotel, and Mr P. LeQuesne, Waikato Hotel, and for a New Zealand wine license by Mr J. Knox, All the applications were granted. This was all tho business.
