WHATAWHATA.
Mk Reynolds' Mixtixc; with Mn.iv Sui'Pnuus.— According to notice, Mr H. Reynolds, met the milk suppliers at the factory, on Thursday morning last. There was a full muster of settlers, and much interest was manifested by those present, particularly as the chief business was to arrange for next year's supply of milk. Mr Reynolds stated, that the result of the past season's operations was such, (owing to the unsatisfactory state of the foreign and local butter market), that his company were unable to offer any higher prices for milk, thau Lho schedule rates, oxcept for the winter months, when the present advanced price of -Id per gallon would remain unaltered. Some of the sappliers objected to the deduction of per gallon during the three summer month?, when the price is reduced from 2id to per gallon, and as an alternative Mr Reynolds offered to give a uniform price of 2.'; d per gallon for eight months, commencing on the Ist September next, no allowance for any extra percentage of cream. This was unanimously accepted by the suppliers. Mr Reynolds further stated that during the next season he would be m England, for the purpose of advancing and extending the butter business, and he confidently hoped that "the result of his mission would be better prices for Reynolds' butter, and consequently better prices for the suppliers' milk. There can be no question that this spirited action of Reynolds and Co. in sending a representative home to study the tastes and requirements of the great markets of the wjrld, is a step in the right direction, and no better one could be chosen, than the man who has done so much to bring Now Zealand bur,tor to the front. That lie may succeed in placing the dairy industry on a more safo and permanent basis, will be the sincere desire of all, whether milk suppliers or not.
